Beer Description

Brewed in German style in Fremont, CA, fermented at cool temperatures, it is cold-stored and aged for about two months. It is subtle, with a light grainy Pilsner malt aroma and flavor. There is a grainy malt sweetness up front, but has a crisp finish so that it never really seems sweet. It is a lower-alcohol beer, approximately 4.7%, with just enough hop bitterness to keep things balanced.

Kölsch is the name of the beer brewed uniquely in Cologne, Germany and its neighboring townships and is protected by its name. It is also a word for the German dialect spoken in Cologne and is used as an adjective to describe anything that has to do with Cologne. Unique to Kölsch is that all of the brewers in Cologne, its suburbs, and adjacent towns have unified to stand behind one style of beer with tightly defined parameters. In Cologne, Kölsch is served in cylindrical, thin-walled, seven-ounce glasses, sometimes in a Kölsch Kranz or carrier with 8 or 12 glasses. It is possible to say you have drunk 15 beers in one evening.
