Nitro Tropical Stout
With Blue Agave, Chocolate, Banana, Coconut, & Vanilla
Wah Gwaan, one of our riffs on this fun beer style, gets its name from the commonly used Jamaican greeting meaning “What’s up?/ How are you?”
This lucious, nitro, tropical stout will take you on a blissful journey to the sun-soaked shores of Jamaica, where the rhythm of reggae and the warmth of the Caribbean breeze meet.
Wah Gwaan was brewed with a base of Maris Otter pale malt layered with Munich, a variety of crystal malts and specialty grains, and a touch of 100% blue agave. A gentle hand of Sabro hops in the kettle provide a touch of balancing bitterness as well as a delicate wisp of coconut cream in the aroma.
After a slow and steady kölsch yeast fermentation we conditioned this brew on mounds of Ecuadorian cacao nibs, Sri Lankan bananas, toasted coconut chips, and Madagascar vanilla.
Wah Gwaan was canned with liquid nitrogen so we recommend “Smash Pouring” it straight downward into a proper pint glass after a few gentle rolls. After pouring, the tiny nitrogen bubbles will cascade upwards in mesmerizing fashion, forming a glorious, sturdy head of highly aromatic, beige colored foam that will cling to the inside of your glass with each frothy gulp.
We get notes of dark chocolate covered banana, toasty coconut flakes, caramel mocha frappe, chocolate banana smoothie, stewed sugar plums drizzled with agave syrup, and sweet, ripened banana split topped with fudge, nuts, and whipped cream.
