A clean, light, summery ale that we double dry hopped for extra aroma and flavor.
Trail Magic Session IPA is an offshoot of our Shoreline Series, with each batch featuring a different hop. This single-hop brew will be re-imagined and re-released intermittently throughout the year. Single-hop beers are a great way to get to know and recognize a specific hop variety. We brewers especially like them, because they help us understand how to best use a hop in future batches. On this trip down the magical hop trail, we went searching for a Southern Hemisphere hop and came away with Motueka. Motueka hops hail from New Zealand. Originally released in 1997, these aroma hops are bred from Saaz hops and an unnamed New Zealand variety. While they lack the big, pungent flavors associated with Citra or Galaxy, they possess pleasant lemon and lime flavors, with a hint of pineapple and a touch of herbal spice. Suitable in a variety of styles, from light Pilsners to American pale ales, Motueka previously appeared in our double IPA, Punching the Ocean.
