A syrupy anise stout. No hints of chocolate or bitterness. It is certainly better than the string of molasses stouts I've been subjected to lately, but it doesn't stand out among other anise stouts. It is a strong stout--alcohol-wise, which limits how much you can enjoy. Overall, it is a good choice if one of my favorites are not available, or because the price is good per oz.--which my 22oz. was at $12.
