Haandbryggeriet Hesjeol (6.5) ABV

Brewing was very much a part of farm life in old Norway. Indeed farmers were required by law to make beer and could loose their lands if this duty was neglected. Custom called for a specialy hearty but thirst quenching ale at harvest-time. This Hesjeol- or harvest ale is a recreation of this beer style.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a thin off-white head. The aroma has smokey malt notes, tropical fruits, some sweet caramel, very earthy. In the front of the mouth I get a smoked wood like character, followed by fruits and a nice dry bitter finish. Unique flavors and aroma. A great beer to have at one of my friend Kasper's backyard bbq's.
