Aecht Schlenkerla Oak Smoke (8.0) ABV

Following century old recipes all malts made at the Schlenkerla brewery are dried by wood fire. While for the classic Ã¢â¬ÅAecht Schlenkerla RauchbierÃ¢â¬Â traditionally beech has been Ã¢â¬â and still is Ã¢â¬â used, the malt for Ã¢â¬ÅSchlenkerla Oak SmokeÃ¢â¬Â is kilned with oak wood. The resulting Oak Smoke Malt has a smoother and more multi layered smoky note than the intensely aromatic Beech Smoke Malt. The hence complex smokiness in Ã¢â¬ÅSchlenkerla Oak SmokeÃ¢â¬Â is paired with the multifaceted bitterness of finest Hallertau aroma hops. With 8% alcohol and Bernstein color it matures for months in the deep brewery cellars underneath Bamberg into a special treat for smoke beer lovers for Christmas.

Doppelbock / You can taste the smokiness but it doesn't beat you over the head. I found it pretty easy to drink.

The best smoked beer I've had. Has a strong smoke taste but also lets malt notes come through. The smoke flavor changes from the sip to finish. Also I was able to notice more going on as I got further into it. The first sip is almost a shock of smoke flavor.
