Pardon me if this is a bit truncated, but the website dropped my original review during the save. ... This is a malty IPA. Excellent. My beer-tasting odyssey has led me to the welcome conclusion that the best is the American Black Ale.

So hoppy it's weird that it's so opaquely black. Tasty and packs a wallop!

Feels like pineneedles have been pierced through my tongue. Pours an impressive opaque black with a nice tan head. The aroma is huge and complex with a very strong hop presence. A bit sweet with a touch of espresso lingering in the nose. The flavor is where the pine attacks hard. This beer is bitter with hints of grapefruit and a touch of alcohol. This is my #1 beer of 2011.
