If you enjoy a cold Lowenbrau in a stein, then you will appreciate this Guinness version with the scent and appearance of beer (fine foam over crazy carbonation), the silky mouthfeel of a malt, and the tingle on the tongue from the bitter finish. This is an imperial so the alcohol content is a factor in rating this against other bitter stouts, which in this case is a plus since it is only 7.7 ABV versus 8, 9 and 10 for other favorites. TSP is a top shelf choice found at Whole Foods for $8 for 10oz.. McNeill's has more ABV, for instance, but also more flavor (so a bit sweeter and more bitter too) and costs $5-7 for 22oz.
