Can taste the Barley Wine but can't taste the barrel aged???

WOW! This is one impressive Barley Wine. Pours a gorgeous deep reddish color and is perfectly syrupy. Wish I could comment on the lack of head, which the waiter had no idea how to build in the glass. The first thing you smell is the bourbon barrel aging with robust scents of dark fruits and caramel. The alcohol is noticeable but not overpowering, perfectly balanced. A nice amount of maltiness and a hint of grass lingers to the finish. A truly remarkable beer worth the $20 splurge.
