October 29, 2011, Saturday from 12:00PM - 4:00PM
No Entrance Fee
Beer aficionados with artistic leanings when it comes to pumpkins should bundle up their Halloween gourd creations and head to the E. 20th Street location of Petite Abeille on Sunday, October 30 for Petite Abeille’s Second Annual / Decorating Contest on Sunday October 30 for a chance to win the world’s largest bottle of beer – a whopping nine liters (two-and-a-third gallons or enough to give a group of 10 to 12 imbibers a robust buzz) !) of Belgium’s celebrated Saint Feullien Triple. Very few of these Brobdingnagian brews are produced annually with only half a dozen entering the New York market every year. Petite Abeille, with its precedent- setting number of Belgian beer offerings, is one of just three restaurants at which it is available, selling the Salmanazar-sized bottle for $450.
To enter to win the behemoth bottle, the contents of which has a rich, lingering flavor redolent of the intoxicating blend of aromatic hops and spices that is characteristic of this abbey brewed beverage, pumpkin artistes will need to bring their creations to 401 E. 20th at the corner of 1st, by 3 p.m., where they will be judged by Petite Abeille owner Yves Jadot. Winner will be announced at 4:30 – no fee to enter and no purchase necessary to enter.
