2nd Annual Home Brewer Contest

We are pleased to announce Heartland Brewery’s 2nd Annual Home Brewer Contest and invite you to sign up now.

Event Date: Tuesday, August 14, 2012 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Location: Heartland Brewery at the Empire State Building (350 5th Avenue at West 34th Street

Heartland Brewery has been brewing some of the finest, hand-crafted beers in NYC since 1995, so it is safe to say that we know beer. Last year we were introduced to 78 home brewers and their unique styles of beer at Heartland Brewery’s first Home Brewer Contest and we are looking forward to seeing what our fans have been brewing this year. We don’t just love beer, brewing beer, serving beer and drinking beer, we appreciate it; the time, textures and flavors incorporated in the brewing process that makes each beer different, as well as its ability to bring home brewers like you and us together. This year’s entries will be judged by a team of beer industry experts, including Heartland Brewery’s founder, Head Brewmaster Kelly Taylor, last year’s winner Peter Cowles.

Entrants must sign up by July 1st at HeartlandHomeBrew@gmail.com Each entrant must deliver four 12-ounce bottles of their beer on August 10th between 2 pm and 8pm or August 11th between 12pm and 3pm, to the Heartland Brewery Empire State Building location. Submissions at other times will be permitted upon special request.

All bottles must be labeled with the following information
Style of beer
Name of beer
Name of entrant
Phone number of entrant

In order to be eligible for the People’s Choice prize, entrants must also bring 1/6thl ( 5 gallons / 640 oz) of their beer with them to the event on August 14th to be sampled by other attendees. Please remember to specify at sign-up if you will be participating in the People’s Choice competition. All home brewers will receive complimentary admission, beer, home brewed samples and light snacks, provided by Heartland Brewery.

Best in Show Prizes:
1st Place: Heartland Brewery brewers will work with the winner to create half a batch (15 barrels) of the winning beer to be on tap at select Heartland Brewery locations and $100 Heartland Brewery gift card
2nd place: Private tour of the brewery with five friends and a $50 Heartland Brewery gift card
3rd Place: $50 Heartland Brewery gift card

People’s Choice Prizes:
1st Place: Beer 101 Tasting, including well-paired burgers and hand-crafted brews for you and three friends at HB Burger with one of our certified brewer guides.
2nd Place: $50 gift card and a Heartland Brewery logo t-shirt
3rd Place Heartland Brewery logo t-shirt and hat
