Canceled!! Rattle N Hum – Hunter S. Thompson Celebration – Gonzo Foundation Event at Rattle N Hum

First, a little about the charming, intelligent, Anita Thompson:

Anita Thomspon and Hunter S. Thompson were deeply in love and Anita’s perspective on Hunter is unique in that Hunter was able to share with Anita his view on “being Hunter S. Thompson” as he often reflected on his remarkable life.
Anita still lives at Owl Farm in Woody Creek, CO, Hunter’s home since 1968. The pet peacocks still roam the yard, as well as wild elk an…d deer. It’s one of the most beautiful places on earth.

After Hunter’s death in 2005, Anita commuted to New York City to complete her degree at Columbia University.

In addition to writing The Gonzo Way, since returning to Owl Farm Anita also founded the Woody Creeker magazine, did a brilliant job selecting and editing Hunter’s interviews for publication in Ancient Gonzo Wisdom, and is serving as Executive Director of the Gonzo Foundation. The Gonzo Foundation’s purpose is to continue to spread the wisdom of Hunter S. Thompson and to encourage young people to pursue careers in journalism and to help finance their education. A major writing contest is about to be announced. Ralph Steadman, Jim Caruso, and Sean Penn currently serve on the board of the Gonzo Foundation. Anita also writes a blog from Owl Farm www.owlfarmblog.com and she and Jim Caruso continually challenge each other to post something on their respective blogs every day. They have not done well at it lately, but both promise to get back on track.

Rattle N Hum – Hunter S. Thompson Celebration – Gonzo Foundation Event
Tuesday, September 21st

Here’s what I have so far:

1. Anita Thompson will be at Rattle N Hum on September 21st, direct from Owl Farm in Woody Creek, CO.
2. Anita will bring some never before seen home videos of Hunter at Owl Farm. She’s doing some editing on them now. There are thousands of hours to choose from. She’ll do Q&A about Hunter, Owl Farm, Gonzo, whatever.
3. We will have 10 copies each of The Gonzo Way and Ancient Gonzo Wisdom that Anita will sign and give away. Anita will sign any books or memorabilia anyone would bring in.
4. Anita will do a short reading from one of Hunter’s works, Hunter loved having Anita read to him. We’ll invite one or two people to do a short reading also. Have to keep it short, even reading Hunter can be hellishly boring if it goes on too long.
5. Jim Caruso, General Partner & CEO of Flying Dog, will donate from his personal collection, two (2) 750 ml bottles of the original Gonzo Imperial Porter created as a tribute to Hunter in 2005 signed by Ralph Steadman, in their original canisters with numbered 8.5 × 11 posters. Both the bottles and posters are rare numbered, limited releases.
6. Donating two (2) of the original numbered Gonzo “fist” memorial pins.
7. Flying Dog will donate three (3) cases of the first ever 12 oz barrel-aged Gonzo Imperial Porter, which was just produced.
8. We’ll have a couple dozen Gonzo posters for Anita to sign and give away.
9. Also donating a copy of Ralph Steadman’s book about Hunter titled The Joke’s Over.
10. Donating a signed copy of Phlogs by George Stranahan, Flying Dog’s founder and lifelong friend of Hunter. Phlogs includes the essay and photo of the famous blowing up of the Jeep on Hunter’s property. This includes a limited release book bag with original art by Ralph Steadman printed on it.
11. Donating forty (40) hardback copies of Linchpin, by Seth Godin, who is a true genius and Gonzo inspiration to Flying Dog and the Gonzo Foundation www.sethgodin.com

12. Anita will write on the wall of Rattle N Hum one of her favorite quotes about Hunter.
13. Also donating an assortment of Gonzo (the “fist”) tee’s and Flying Dog Gonzo/Hunter S. Thompson tee’s and some Flying Dog schwag.
14. Donating 1 case of 750s (6 bottles) of very rare Brettanomyces Barrel-Aged Gonzo. And, will make available 10 cases for Rattle N Hum for purchase, if so desired.
15. We’ll also have regular Barrel-Aged Gonzo, dry-hopped firkins of Barrel-Aged Gonzo, Raging Bitch firkins, and others available.
