Troegs Mad Elf has “warmed my heart and enlightened my tongue,” as advertised, this holiday season. I tried it for the first time at East Village Tavern when they had the guest bar tender and it has been a holiday favorite for me this year.
I was tentative to try this one when I saw that it had cherries in it because I don’t generally like sweet or fruity beers, but at 11% abv, I had to give it a try. This beer really surprised me with a very subtle cherry flavor that is not overbearing. This is one of my favorite winter beers this year.
Recently tried the Southern Tier Gemini
It is a blend of the Southern Tier Unearthly IPA and the Southern Tier Hoppe unfiltered. This beer is incredibly light and refreshing for a 10.5% beer. It has a grapefruit flavor and is less bitter than most IPAs of this gravity.
Can anybody recommend a pumpkin ale that’s currently on tap in olde city? maybe this is getting too specific, but i guess it doesn’t hurt to ask…
