Pours a crystal clear straw yellow with a thin white head. The aroma is an onslaught of spices herbs. Picking up lavender and rosemary, a bit musky, and a hint of banana in the background. The taste is extremely herbal, kind of medicinal. Lots of lemon citrus and earthy, grassy belgian yeast. Has an exceptional light to medium bodied mouthfeel.
Pours a hazy orange with a nice fluffy white head. Nice aroma with loads of grapefruit bitterness and some resinous pine. There’s also a nice bready, toasted malt backbone. The taste is pretty similar, dominated by the bitter grapefruit, orange peel and pine. The alcohol is definitely noticeable here. Medium to full bodied. Dry bitter finish. A bit of a disappointment from a brewery that has never let me down. Pretty decent, but I wouldn’t search it out again.
Pours a clear orange, with a nice amount of carbonation and a soapy white head. The aroma hits you with an onslaught of pine needles, backed up by sweet juicy hops. The taste is tongue tingling bitter. Oranges, pineapple, mangoes, a fruit punch for adults. Nice amount of malts balancing it out. Pretty sweet, a bit boozy, very drinkable.
Pours a reddish-brown with a 2 finger, foamy off-white head. Getting a nice mix of hops and malts in the aroma. Pine and spices with a slight hint of grapefruit. The taste is definitely hop forward, lots of pine and fruits with a nice balance of brown sugar and molasses. The hop bitterness builds as you continue drinking. I think they hit it right on the nose, billing this as an extra hoppy brown ale. Good stuff!
Pours a beautiful deep brown with ruby highlights, topped off with a huge frothy off-white head. Big hoppy aroma dominated by juicy orange and pineapple. Some chocolate and espresso notes. More IPA than Porter in the taste. Lots of tropical fruits, orange and pineapple. Roasted malts and chocolate sneak up later in the mouth. Really nice. One of the best from Sam Adams.
Pours dark brown, verging on black with a 1 finger foamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malts, some coffee and smokey burnt wood notes. The smoke is much more evident in the taste. Roasted espresso beans and chocolate are mixing it up nicely with dark fruits. The taste is all about the smoke, but not cloyingly so. Very smooth mouthfeel with a good amount of carbonation. Overall, this is a well-balanced and interesting smoked porter.
