Chateau Puynormond St. Emilion

Made from 100% old vine Merlot this wine has a nose that reminds me of dry cured black olives, you know, the ones that are covered in dried herbs de Provence, even the floral bits of lavender. So fiercely aromatic that one might mistake it for Cabernet Franc but this is what great Merlot can do when grown on old gnarled vines that dig deep into the soil. Leaning towards the heavy side in terms of body but there is just the finest dusting of tannin that pulls everything together so beautifully. Grill up some steaks or lamb chops and elevate your meal to greatness with a bottle of this lovely Bordeaux.
