Beer Description

Giraffe Dance is a simple, clean, mildly-hoppy American Pale, but the foundational ingredients put this pale into a league of its own. With the Giraffe Dance’s all-star combo of four malts and three hops, one might say that all other beers of this style (usually made with two-row barley, two malts, and a hop or two) “pale” in comparison. The unique smoothness comes from first-wort hopping in which our brewers apply hops into the wort prior to the boiling phase in order to create a softer bitterness that is more pleasing to the palette, in the true old English style. Beer enthusiasts might notice that the IBU of the Giraffe Dance is higher than that of our FrangIPAna IPA, and will be even more confused upon tasting it because the Giraffe is noticeably less bitter than its cousin Fran. In this and all cases, it is important to note that a beer cannot always be judged by its IBU because advanced techniques can boost or subdue bitterness without affecting the hops flavor. In other words, IBU is better defined as the level of hops presence rather than bitterness. The beer is named for our owner’s golfing buddy, Fritz, who stands at a lanky 6’8” tall and routinely performs a signature jig upon getting a birdie on the golf course. 61 IBU – 5 SRM
