Fieldwork Loretta

There was once an era in beer where “big” and “strong” weren’t adjectives exclusive to quadruple dry-hopped triple IPAs and imperial pastry stouts; there was a day and time when the Belgian Quad / Strong Dark Ale was the sought after, the extreme, the classic that demanded respect from brewers and drinkers alike. Our attempt to not screw up this style of legend is Loretta, a Belgian Strong Dark Ale brewed with grain, sugars, yeast, and hops from its country of origin and brewed with the goal of the utmost quaffability and a well hidden warming boozines. While exceptionally dry for its style, Loretta is laced with notes of sticky dates, roasted figs, and toffee covered raisins that gives this elegant beast connotations of winter spiced cake and black breakfast tea. With all of our Belgian styled beers we realize that besting the legends of style is a futile battle until time travel becomes a reality; so instead we focus on paying homage to our idols by using similar ingredients and process, doing nothing out of the ordinary, and focusing on being true to style with uncharacteristic to style levels of drinkability.
