Peter Kiley, Monday Night Brewing's owner/brewer, is a smart feller generally, and especially when it comes to oak, specifically wine barrels. Having worked at wineries in California he knows the chemical, physical, and psychological nature of barrels. We got together for a brew and decided to blend our love of session beers with his vast knowledge of oak. Aged 180 days in French Oak that once held Sauvignon Blanc, this one is a crisp French Pilsner and raw wheat based brew that flashes mellowed pepper and faintly fruity yeast character. Floral, herbal, and spicy noble hops meld with seductive aromas of asian pear, kaffir lime leaves, vanilla and flavors of lychee, gooseberry, and watermelon. Smooth mouth and a dry, mineral finish.
Hops: Hallertau Mittelfruh, Styrian Golding, Czech Saaz
