Last updated January 02, 2020 · By Dylan Blake

This year we saw some of the usual suspects but also some real headscratchers.

But we here at BeerMenus were most surprised by one thing: that some White Claw flavor wasn't the number 1 most popular beer of 2019.

Here's hoping hard soda popularity wanes a bit in 2020.

Anyway, enjoy the list of the 50 most popular beers of 2019!

Note: This list is compiled by looking at pageviews on BeerMenus.com during 2019.

While Hopslam release excitement has waned slightly as of late, there's still a lot of excitement around the availability of this huge DIPA. Just because you don't have to pick it up within 20 minutes of delivery, it doesn't mean nobody cares.

8. Guinness - Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale

Everyone in the world has heard of Guinness. Hundreds of years on basically one beer! So when they introduce variation into the lineup you know they've thought long and hard about it. So have beer lovers.

7. Stone - Enter Night

When you do a collab with Metallica, people will get excited. Doesn't hurt that the beer is a solid pilsner.

Part of their tart "Cart" series exploring different fruits, Mango stuck out and is far and away their most popular beer.

5. Stiegl - Radler

Since 2019 is unofficially the year of hard seltzer and crazy fruited beers, it should be no surprise that beer drinkers would be excited about the classics of the genre. Light and easy drinking, this one's been around for more than a hundred years!

4. Russian River - Pliny The Elder

The first double IPA, nothing has changed as Russian River continues to grow and the loyal fans keep scooping it all up.

3. Samuel Adams - Utopia

Back after a multi-year hiatus, these beers are damn near brandy. At 25%+, there are some states where you can't legally purchase a bottle even if you could afford it (they retail for hundreds of dollars).

2. Goose Island - Bourbon County Stout

Quality questions and crazy scale increases have not stopped the annual release of Bourbon County being America's beer holiday.

1. The Alchemist - Heady Topper

Often thought of as the best beer in the world, the progenitor of the New England/Hazy IPA holds on strong as beer drinkers continue their clamoring. No one is surprised here.
