Beer Description

Our annual Oktoberfest release is a 5.9% German-style amber lager that combines the smooth, bready maltiness of a Märzen with a Festbier’s fragrant hoppiness.

Our annual Oktoberfest release is a 5.9% German-style amber lager that combines the smooth, bready maltiness of a Märzen with a Festbier’s fragrant hoppiness.

For this year’s Witching Hour, we were excited to get our hands on Epiphany’s Ursprung, a traditional Fest-style malt made from Bavarian-grown spring barley that’s imported and kilned by Epiphany in Durham, North Carolina. Richer than a pilsner malt while still reflecting its delicate nature, Urpsrung brings Witching Hour a deep base malt character, which we fortify with Epiphany’s Munich and Vienna.

We bittered the brew with German Magnum and later added Saphir, a newer-school German varietal prized for its floral and subtle citrus notes. We then transferred to tank and gave this beautiful liquid all the time it could handle to mature gracefully.
