Beer Description

Golden in color with huge aromas of citrus, pine, and tropical fruits. Our Pale Ale is hoppy, refreshing, and smooth.

Our goal at 17th State Brewing Company is to make great beer while teaching the people who consume our beer a few Ohio facts along the way. 17th State Pale Ale is a tribute to the west coast style pale ales that we enjoy drinking ourselves. Golden in color with huge aromas of citrus, pine, and tropical fruits. Packed with four varieties of hops, and fresh Lake Erie water. Our Pale Ale is hoppy, refreshing, and smooth. 17th State Pale Ale is brewed by hop heads, for hop heads. I don’t know about you but when I think pale I think about America’s past Presidents. All those paintings have those dudes looking pale as fuck back then. It is impossible to think about Presidents and not think about Ohio. Ohio is sometimes called the “Mother of Modern Presidents,” having sent seven Ohioans to the White House since 1869: Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William H. Taft and Warren G. Harding. That means Ohio has sent more men to the Oval Office than any other state in the union. Technically, that last sentence is a lie. Virginia has sent 8 and Ohio has only sent 7 but if you figure essentially all of the American population started in Virginia they have an unfair advantage. All of Ohio’s Presidents came from Ohio on purpose and not just because that is where everybody was living. Like us, you have to want to be from Ohio and that is a special person. Anyway, I digress; so enjoy your Pale Ale while you think of the many accomplishment these men made to our country via our state. These facts should come as no surprise because we all know, “As the 17th State goes, so goes the nation”
