We love the smooth, roasty character of our black wheat beers. As winter has arrived, we thought why not take things up a notch? We bumped up the ABV, and incorporated a few ingredients that we’ve flirted with over the past few years. On top of a 10% ABV imperial black wheat, we added coffee beans, cocoa nibs, and vanilla beans before aging the beer on maple wood staves, creating Volume 6 of our small batch series.
The end result is likely our most complex and flavorful beer yet. The aroma greets you with a mix of vanilla, coffee, and maple candy. As you take your first sip, coffee carries through first with the classic combination of vanilla and chocolate right on its heels. These flavors then give way to the distinct taste of maple that lingers on the palette, until you look outside at the snow and decide you need another sip!
