In an effort to distinguish themselves from the Pub Up The Way, Irish and English brewers would add the local oysters to their brews. There is no distinguishable oyster flavor in the beer but they add Sea Salt, Calcium and other Minerals that become part of the overall flavor. There are some other micro-brew oyster beers available on a seasonal basis.
