Fieldwork Dark and Coffee

Dark & Coffee is our spin on the very tropical in nature Foreign Export Stouts that can be found in the Caribbean; but with the pirate notes and references cranked up to eleven. We started with a base beer we felt was a quintessential representation of the delicious Foreign Export Stouts we love, with deep dark cocoa notes and hints of dark candied fruits. After that we dropped anchor and let this beauty age with coffee, chocolate, ginger, and lime; merging two of the most classic stout notes we could think of with the heart and soul of the nautically derived cocktail Dark & Stormy. Fresh from the tap this grog’s ballast is weighed down with flavors of milk chocolate and iced coffee, but as it quickly warms up ginger explodes like a cannon dominating the senses. As the ginger, chocolate, and coffee fire warning shots back and forth the lime slides in undetected till the heavy bodied and overly buoyant stout washes ashore on your palate, leaving a bright and effervescent citrus finish in its wake.
