After originally brewing Children of Darkness for the 2012 GABS, and it getting such great reviews, it’s now out in un-oaked format in bottles and at selected outlets. Children of Darkness is an India Black ale running at 6.5% abv and 80 IBUs. It’s a complex mélange of roasted malts and aggressive hopping that makes it our take on this emerging style. Aromas of chocolate and coffee mix with citrus, pine and tropical fruits. The flavour and taste are pretty much the same with coffee and chocolate adding into hints of cream and crystal malt which are rudely shoved out of the way by the piney, citrusy, fruity bitterness from the hops.
