Beer Description

Airborne pours copper brown with a light tan, slowly dissipating head and anise and clove on the nose, and flavors of hops, cloves, and a touch of brown sugar.

Airborne Brune (ABV 7.5%) is a beer created by the owners of Brasserie Lamborelle and brewed by Brasserie de Bouillon to commemorate the Battle of the Bulge and to thank those who fought to liberate Belgium during WWII.
As the battle raged, the Germans captured the American field hospital, forcing the US medics to set up shop in the local church. It was then that a legend was born.
A young GI was visiting his wounded buddy in the makeshift hospital and asked if he could get him anything. “Yeah. Go get me something to drink.” After a bit of cajoling, the GI went out and found a bombed-out tavern with a working beer tap (but no unbroken glassware) and filled up his helmet to make beer runs to his thirsty comrades.
Locals in Bastogne knew of the story but thought it was just myth until 65 years later, when that GI — Vincent Speranza, who had no idea his story had survived — returned to Bastogne, and while in a cafe told this very story to some of his family and friends. One of his friends immediately grabbed a waiter and ordered some beers. Imagine their surprise when the restaurant brought to Vince and his group some Airborne beer with its label showing a GI carrying beer in his helmet — and with it, ceramic mugs in the shape of a helmet for serving!

Airborne is brewed as a traditional mild Belgian Double. It pours copper brown with a light tan, slowly dissipating head and anise and clove on the nose. Extremely smooth and approachable, it features flavors of hops, cloves, and a touch of brown sugar.
