Beer Description
Paint it Black Irish Red is our latest Penninusula collaboration, this time with Armstrong Brewing in South San Francisco. We used Admiral Maltings’ Red Seven as a base malt, and “painted” it with a tiny amount of black, roasted barley to achieve a deep, red, mahogany hue. The malt forward flavor and aroma match the color, with notes of caramel and a subtle sweetness that finishes dry, and doesn’t linger on the tongue. A small amount of Cascade brings a splash of hoppy brightness to the flavor as well. The perfect beer to enjoy all day, on a cool and rainy Irish (or Bay Area) afternoon!
