Beer Description

Confluence’s Anniversary Porter 2014 aged in bourbon and grape brandy barrels.

As the second anniversary of Confluence Brewing founding and 200th batch approached, co-founder and head brewer John Martin decided the time was right for our first-ever Porter.

The grain bill for this beer would impress a gourmet chef: four base malts from the UK and Ireland for a rich backbone, flaked oats for a velvety texture, brown malt for dark toast flavors/light coffee, several medium and dark caramel malts for body and sweetness, three different chocolate malts for depth and complexity and a small amount of black malt for color and a hint of dark roast coffee flavor. Balance all of that with English East Kent Goldings hops and American Summit hops and you’ve got big birthday beer that says “THANK YOU!” from all of us at Confluence Brewing.
