A Christkindlmarket is a wonderful German tradition dating back to the early 1300’s in which men and women set up stalls during the first few weeks of the advent calendar to sell their crafts, foods, and drinks. The tradition of this outdoor winter market continues today and has spread beyond the borders of Germany. We are celebrating Des Moines’ second annual Christkindlmarket with this limited edition spiced beer! With the intent to warm the heart as well as the body, we crafted a malty, German inspired beer with an upfront gingerbread flavor from the addition of cinnamon, clove, ginger, and vanilla bean. We hope this special beer will keep you warm while perusing the stalls of the Des Moines’ market, or sitting around a fire this holiday. Cheers!
