Woodbury Red Five

This beer is a 8 month long collaborative effort between our head brewer and the 2018 WBC Homebrew Comp champion Dylan Salvatore. Dylan is an accomplished brewer focused on Belgian-style mixed fermentation sours and farmhouse beers, propagates his own mixed cultures (one of which was used in the creation of this beer), and has managed barrel programs in commercial breweries. Red 5 is made with a traditional malt base, fermented with a mixed culture of yeast and bacteria, and conditioned on sour cherries for 4 months. The result is an exceptionally smooth, pleasantly sour Flanders red-style beer with a flavorful, full, slightly sweet malt body that carries the vinous aroma and flavor, perfectly balances the tart lactic and acetic qualities, and compliments the delicate cherry flavor that helps make this an truly unique libation.
