Beer Description

This beer is the tenth installment of our Portland Pale Project. We are undertaking this project to highlight the variety within this style and the creativity within our brewers, as well as revisit old favorites and experiment with new materials. A Bantum is a standard chicken breed for smaller size. This beer is a British Session version of our Free Range Red (though not Organic), which we consider a NW Extra Special Bitter, or ESB. Bitters are often darker then our standard Pale Ales, but this one fits in well as a Pale Ale, whatever your standard is. We used roughly a similar build to the malts and exchanged our native Cascade hops for British hops to create a mellow, easy-drinking ale that draws on the English roots of so many of our well loved craft beer styles.
