A brand new hazy IPA coming your way this week, Toastee is an IPA brewed with locally sourced Carolina Gold Rice from Tidewater Grain Company.
A brand new hazy IPA coming your way this week, Toastee is an IPA brewed with locally sourced Carolina Gold Rice from Tidewater Grain Company. This is quite possibly the most labor intensive IPA we have ever brewed. We took 100 pounds of the rice and toasted it to coax out additional flavor from the rice. From there we cooked it, and added it to the mash. This melded with our heavy oat/wheat grain bill and resulted in a seriously smooth IPA base. We brewed the beer as normal from there with additions of milk sugar and Citra hops in the kettle. We then double dry hopped the beer with a blend of Centennial, Simcoe, and El Dorado. Tropical, toastee, and juicy as can be. This was a very fun project for us and weโre excited to bring it to you. A truly unique and locally sourced IPA resulting in one of the most interesting and fluffy “mouthfeels” we have ever created.
