German Style Radler. We started with our Midwest malted 6 row base malt, flaked corn, German Munich, and flaked barley, with additions of Tradition hops. Lemon soda was added to our lager post-fermentation to make Radler, which is a style like the English Shandy. The Radler was invented in Munich, Germany, in 1922 by adding lemon soda to beer, and Innkeeper Franz Kugler named it “Cyclist Liter” (Radlermass). Bicycling was hugely popular at the time.
