The US Army Signal Corps made the first attempt to touch another celestial body in January 1946 from their home base in Wall, New Jersey. A reflective antenna was buit and used to bounce radar signals off the moon.

A reflective antenna was buit and used to bounce radar signals off the moon. Project Diana is often noted as the birth of the US Space Program as well as that of radar astronomy. Project Diana is an ever changing series of hazy beer, no two will be the same.
