Bookhouse Total Internal Reflection Stout

London-style sweet stout started as something of a reluctant turn, the London brewers thinking that it would be little more than a flash in the pan (preferring their own Porter). But as these things go, the sweet, rich, intense character of the beer came to develop a strong following. As time creeped along, brewers found ways to adapt to tax laws and shortages of ingredients – but only due to a considerable period of contemplation. So this is that – a beer born of, and for the purposes of, reflection, curiosity, question asking. Sweet, yes, but also bright and moreish, with hints of prune and sugared fig. Dark black, but light on roast and burnt character, for an approachable, full-bodied classic stout.
