Beer Description
An annual tradition in celebration of The Virginia Beer Company’s anniversary, each year our brewers unveil a limited selection of barrel-aged Waypost variants.
Waypost (a marker to note one’s progress along the path forward) is an Imperial Milk Stout. Dark, rich, and creamy, the 2025 vintages of this recipe have been aged in Russell’s Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
To celebrate 9 years, we are proud to unveil two limited Bourbon Barrel-Aged Waypost offerings, including the traditional base variant aged in Bourbon Barrels with no added adjuncts:
Waypost Neat [12.4%]: It’s not an anniversary celebration without an Imperial Milk Stout aged in freshly emptied Bourbon Barrels. Our classic anniversary ale returns, with extended aging in Russell’s Reserve barrels – imparting robust sweetness and undertones of vanilla and oak to this year’s slightly spicy, ever-warming Waypost recipe.
