American Stouts, like many American beer styles, go back to England. Historically called “butt beers” due to the name of the oak vessels they were aged in (we’ll let you make your own judgements on the origin of that name), stouts have evolved in strength and flavor over the last 200 years. Our American version is loaded with West Coast “C” hops for some subtly pine notes, and the malt bill is rounded out by dark crystal malts, roasted barley, and chocolate malt, making the name of the game for this beer roasty goodness.
