Beer Description

The 2014 vintage of Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche Doppelbock. Specially bottled unfiltered and aged for several years in the rock cellars beneath Stephansberg.

General information about the oak: The malt produced at the Schlenkerla Brewery is dried over an open wood fire according to an old, historical recipe. While beechwood was and still is traditionally used for the classic Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier, the malt for Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche is kilned using oak wood. The resulting oak-smoked malt has a softer and more complex smoky aroma than the spicy and intense beech-smoked malt. This complex smoky note in Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche is complemented by the diverse bitterness of the finest aroma hops from the Hallertau region. Amber in color and with an alcohol content of 8%, it matures for several months in the deep brewery cellars beneath Stephansberg, becoming a very special treat for smoked beer lovers during the Christmas season.
