Beer Description
We took our Rhinoceros Rye Barleywine and added Seville Orange peels and let it settle in the Bourbon barrel for a number of months. The result is the Telegraph Brewing Company/K&L Wine Merchants “Obscura Aurantium” Bourbon Barrel Aged Rye Barleywine With Seville Orange Peels, California 750ml and we couldn’t be happier with the finished product. The beer, while having considerable weight, as a Barleywine should, is surprisingly refreshing. Maybe it is the intense Seville Orange peels that add a vibrant, oily lift to the beer; or maybe it is the Rye based malt that adds layers of spice rather than sweetness but this is surprisingly light on its feet for a 10% beer.
