Prunus & Pithos is a complex, wine-forward Danish Wild Ale brewed by Mikkeller Baghaven (Baghaven Brewing and Blending) in Copenhagen, Denmark. Boasting a 6% ABV, this highly-rated beer is crafted through advanced blending techniques using local fruits and unique old-world aging vessels
The Blend: It begins with a base of Opal, Baghaven’s signature plum Danish Wild Ale. This base is then blended with a wild ale aged in oak for two years with Helios grapes, and another wild ale aged for two years in terracotta amphoras with Phoenix grapes. Both grape varieties are sourced from the island of Zealand, Denmark.
Taste: It offers a dry, funky, and complex flavor structure. You will notice distinct hints of passionfruit, mojito, oak, clear minerality from the terracotta clay, and a subtle “bubble gum” plum finish.
