Beer Description

Editor’s note: From 2009 – 2012 this beer was brewed at Amager Bryghus. Starting from the summer of 2012 it will be brewed at Herslev Bryghus.
nglish: We had great success with Xbeeriment Barack, which was well received both in Denmark and abroad. Therefore we had to obviously make a compromise Imperial Stout version, developing the basic elements of Xbeeriment Barack.
Xbeeriment Black Force One is brewed with five different malts (pale, cara aroma, crystal, chocolate and peat smoked), roasted barley, sugar, water and yeast. There used three different American hops in brewing (Chinook, Centennial and Amarillo), after which the beer is dry hopped with Cascade.
The result is a black beer with an intense aroma of peat smoke, elements of grapefruit and pine needles from the hops and of course lots of flavor notes as espresso coffee, tar and chocolate from the roasted malts.
Unlike many Imperial Stouts have Xbeeriment Black Force One is not a massive residual sweetness. The beer has been allowed to ferment out to a density of 1010, resulting in a beer that gets its sweetness from the 10.4% alcohol and not from large amounts of residual sugar.
This gives Xbeeriment Black Force One a fine balance between fullness from the malt and alcohol and the strong hop bitterness and sour notes from the roasted barley and malt.
English: Our basic idea with this beer originated while making Xbeeriment Barack. When we’d done that we thought “What if we took it further?” So we decided to go for it and create an Imperial Stout made with 5 different kinds of malt including substantial amounts of peat smoked malt, roasted barley and 3 different hop varieties. We then added a 4th variety for dry hopping. Finally it was bottled unfiltered, bottle conditioned and left to mature in the bottle for 2 months before release. Serve at 12-14 degrees Celcius (53-57 degrees Fahrenheit).
