Beer Description

In the days before Prohibition, breweries existed in nearly every American town. Most of those breweries were owned and operated by German immigrants and they were attempting to produce the beers they enjoyed in their homeland. In America at the time no one was producing the proper malts to make classic German pilsners, and the hops these breweries were working with were very different from what they could get back home. But they experimented and developed one of the first American beer styles – called the American Premium Lager or Pre-Prohibition lager, these beers were hoppier and higher in alcohol than the modern versions. Sweetness from the corn and graininess from the 6-Row barley combine with a mild bitter and German nose to produce a classic American beer.
