NW Peaks Red

The Beer. In our heads we thought: red (color), fruity (flavor), mildly earthy (flavor), spicy (flavor), crisp (character), and clean (character). We threw some ingredients together and we arrived at Redoubt red. Redoubt is a smooth beer that pours a nice copper like color. The first taste gives a distinct fruity character that I finally identified as cherries. It has aspects of the wine like sour character that cherry juice has. This fruitiness has a gentle sweetness and gives way to a peppery spiciness at the end, which then vanishes. A few others have tried it, and don’t taste what I do, so don’t let the power of suggestion influence you – try it yourself! Regardless, we feel that we hit on a great red colored beer with definite fruity (not citrus) and spicy characters.
