Beer Description

Before Holland became known for light, crisp lagers, they had a long tradition of ales. Malt was wind-dried on the roofs of houses before being made into beer. It was such a delicacy that King Christian V (1680s) specifically ordered beer made with air dried malt for serving at his table. Our friends at Riverbend Malting in Asheville helped us to recreate wind-dried malt by moving germinating grain from the floor of their malting facility to a hop-drying house (oast) at Echo View Farms to dry this malt using only the wind. It is unique and grainy with incredible malt complexity and a light noble hop character derived from traditional German hops. Unique and delicious.
