Wine Description

Grenache thrives on hot, dry conditions, of which during the growing season, the Barossa has plenty.

Grenache thrives on hot, dry conditions, of which during the growing season, the Barossa has plenty. Touring around the region, it’s difficult not to notice the gnarly old bush vine Grenache vineyards dotted across the landscape. Dry grown and more than 125 years old, these veteran vines produce minute quantities of exceptional grapes and Yalumba is lucky enough to have access to many of them. Intense flavours of dark cherry, strawberry compote with hints of white pepper spice and whispers of briar and smoky bacon give way to a silky, balanced and vibrant palate. Traditionally, serious Grenache is considered an oxymoron, but at Yalumba, it’s considered a secret weapon with three wonderful Barossa Old Vine examples to choose from.
