Beer Description

A great summer thirst quencher that colors outside the lines of malt and hops. Brewed in traditional Kölschbier style, this beer has a clean, refreshing flavor profile, with strong citrusy and mild peppery notes deriving from the use of lemon rind ground peppercorns in the brewing process. This was a homebrew recipe developed by Tom Harris, one of the staff brewers at Long Trail. Kölschbiers are native to Cologne, in Northern Germany. They are a light, top fermented ale, typically with a long cellaring time to yield a clean, refreshing flavor profile. Our Brown Bag version combines that classic style with a new twist. Citrusy flavors of lemon zest combine with the bite and aromatics of freshly ground peppercorns, which are added near the end of the brewing process.
