Minimal alcohol content. Maximum hop aroma and flavor. That’s the idea behind the Session IPA. For Scratch #191, we continue our recent endeavor to pack as much hop character into a beer while keeping the ABV at bay. To achieve this, we’ve returned to a recent favorite of ours, Experimental “06277.” Dry-hopping with this unique variety elicits olfactory hues of juicy pineapple and spicy citrus as well as traces of pine and strawberry. For the boil, we combined an excessive hop bill to incorporate a wealth of citrus and tropical fruit as well as sticky pine sap into the mix. The addition of oats softens the mouthfeel and lends a somewhat slick texture, which complements the natural oils found in the hops. The result is a crushable hop-forward Scratch offering with plenty of flavor to occupy the attention of your taste buds for the long haul.
